What People Say

The Connecting Point programs and services have reach thousands of veterans and their families worldwide.  We have gathered a few words from some of our outstanding veterans that we have supported over the years.

After taking a workshop with Mr. Henderson, I begin to put in the work that was taught in class and got 100% of my benefits in about 2 months tops.  I can not express the extreme gratitude that I have for this organization and all of the work it does to assist us Veterans.  I have been trying to get my benefits for years and in one workshop, I was able to follow the steps to success.  Thank you!

Thankful Veteran

After struggling with PTSD from the Iraq War for 10 yrs, I felt disconnected and didnt know what my next move was going to be. I was leaning towards a bad path but Dr. Knake brought me to a place where I am educated about PTSD and I can realize when I am hyper vigilant. He taught me how to recognize and combat the hell I live in on a daily basis. I can’t put into words the compassion, empathy and heartfelt advice I get from him.

About Lovel Henderson, aka, “The Connector”

Pastor Lovel Henderson Jr. was born in Mobile Alabama, and raised in Pensacola Florida. He served in the United States Army, Vietnam from 1965 to 1968 honorably discharged with rank of Sp/4. Pastor Henderson answered the call to the ministry in 1999, and was ordained by the Church of God, Anderson Indiana in 2008. He is a 2000 graduate of Baldwin Wallace College where he earned a BA in Business Administration.

Pastor Henderson currently serves as the Senior Associate Pastor of the Fifth Church of God, under the tutorage of the late Pastor Artis, and current Senior Pastor Victoria Dorsey. He is Coordinator of the Spiritual 12-step Mirror Discussion group, and

Coordinator of the Men’s Ministry. He is a visionary leader who believes in the unity of all believers and works diligently to foster diverse relationships. Pastor Henderson works with the Central area Community Organization, and he serves as an Ambassador for the Cleveland State University NEOMED students.

His passion is giving, and helping those that are in need.Pastor Henderson retired in December 2010 after 20 years of service at the Louis Stokes Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In his past position as Voluntary Service Officer, he was responsible for all volunteer efforts of the veteran service organizations, and volunteers, at the Louis Stokes facility, Brecksville Campus, and 14 outpatient clinics.

Pastor’s Henderson is very active in the community; his tireless efforts to serve his fellow veterans inspired him to open a veteran drop in center called the Connecting Point located within the Fatima Family Center where he also serves on the board. Pastor Henderson was able to obtain a 501c3 which will allow him to apply for grants to further serve those veterans in need, and others whom God sends. Pastor Henderson is very involved with other committee’s in the center, and he is often seen shooting hoops with the teens, and giving goodies to the little ones. He can also be found teaching the senior’s bible study class. One thing is for sure, he always has a word of encouragement for everyone. His love for God, life, family, and people is insatiable.
